Domna Michailidou: “Our joining the Global Coalition for Social Justice aligns with our values.”

“Greece’s accession to the Global Coalition for Social Justice marks a significant step towards further promoting social justice for all. The mission of the Global Coalition aligns with Greece’s core values, including our commitment to labor rights, decent work, fair wages, social inclusion, and promoting dialogue with our fellow citizens”. This was stated by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Domna Michailidou, on the occasion of Greece’s accession to the Global Coalition for Social Justice (GCSJ).

The Global Coalition for Social Justice, which Greece has joined as a partner, aims to serve as a platform for generating political commitments and shaping concrete actions in support of national priorities toward achieving social justice and decent work. It also seeks to create a forum for exchange and dialogue.

The Coalition, which now includes 200 partners, of which 71 are governments, including EU Member States and the European Commission, the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea and Canada, aims to strengthen multilateral cooperation and synergies. This will help pursue the goal of promoting social justice and decent work for all, thus accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The ultimate goal is to achieve a better balance between the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. To this end, the Coalition will seek to play a key role in the recognition of social justice on the multilateral agenda, particularly at the upcoming United Nations Conference on the Future (2024) and the World Social Summit in 2025.
