Minimum Wage

By virtue of article 103 of Law 4172/2013 (Α΄ 167), a new statutory minimum wage and salary setting system was introduced, following broad consultation. Under the said article the Minister of Labour has the authorization to issue decision on its setting, with Cabinet consent.

The procedure began for the first time in September 2018 and ended with the adoption of Ministerial Decision No. 4241/127/30.1.2019 (Β΄ 173), based on which, the statutory minimum salary and wage for full-time employment, for white- and blue-collar workers throughout the country, without age discrimination, were set, as of 1.2.2019, as follows:

a) For white-collar workers the minimum salary is set at six hundred and fifty euros (650,00 €).
b) For blue-collar workers the minimum wage is set at twenty-nine euros and four cents (29,04 €).

Then, as of 1.1.2022, by virtue of Ministerial Decision No. 107675/27.12.2021 (B΄ 6263), the minimum salary and wage were set as follows:

a) For white-collar workers the minimum salary is set at six hundred euros and sixty-three cents (663,00 €).
b) For blue-collar workers the minimum wage is set at twenty-nine euros and sixty-two cents (29,62 €).

As of 1.5.2022, by virtue of Ministerial Decision No. 38866/21.4.2022 (Β΄ 2030) the statutory minimum salary and wage were set as follows:

a) For white-collar workers the minimum salary is set at seven-hundred and thirteen euros (713,00 €).
b) For blue-collar workers the minimum wage is set at thirty-one euros and eighty -five cents (31,85 €).

As of 1.4.2023, by virtue of Ministerial Decision No. 31986/24.3.2023 (Β΄ 2003), the minimum salary and wage were set as follows:

a) For white-collar workers the minimum salary is set at seven-hundred and eighty euros (780,00 €).
b) For blue-collar workers the minimum wage is set at thirty-four euros and eighty-four cents (34,84 €).

As of 1.4.2024, by virtue of Ministerial Decision No. 25058/29.3.2024 (Β΄ 1974), the statutory minimum salary and wage were set as follows:

a) For white-collar workers the minimum salary is set at eight-hundred and thirty euros (830,00 €).
b) For blue-collar workers the minimum wage is set at thirty-seven euros and seven cents (37,07 €).

Moreover, it must be noted that in accordance with article 33, para.3 of Law 5053/2023 (Α΄ 158), for those workers who are paid with the statutory wage or salary, the period of service under a dependent contract or in working relationship which has been spent with any employer and in any specialty before 14.2.2012 and after 1.1.2024 is recognized as seniority. According to the above, seniority-based salary increments are set as follows:

a) For white-collar workers in dependent working relationship, the increment shall be set at ten percent (10%) every three years of service and up to three (3) three-yearly periods, i.e., thirty (30%) percent in total for nine (9) years of service or more.
b) For blue-collar workers in dependent working relationship, the increment shall be set at five (5%) percent every three years of service and up to six (6) three-yearly periods, i.e., thirty (30%) percent in total for eighteen (18) years of service or more.

Finally, it must be underlined that according to article 103, para. 1/b of Law 4172/2013, for full-time employment, individual employment contracts and collective labour agreements of any type may not provide for monthly salaries or wages below the statutory minimum salary or wage or the corresponding resulting proportion for part-time contracts.
