Demographic policy promotes measures to address the demographic problem. Greek families now have fewer children and the Greek population is shrinking and aging.
The demographic problem is being addressed with policies to enhance fertility, support families and increase female participation in labor force. In order to increase the birth rate, a more favorable environment for having children must be created with more incentives and work and social environment that supports families
At the same time, allowance policies must be combined with measures for substantive gender equality and reconciliation of family/personal and professional life, in order to improve the daily life of all family members.
